The Safehouse and some sketches.

The last few weeks, I've been teaching some concept design at the Safehouse Atelier. It's a great group of people down there and I'm really enjoying it. Still hitting my stride on how to communicate the shape theory I've developed for myself, but we're starting to get there.

The Safehouse Atelier has a great blog at thesafehouseatelier.blogspot.com. Dobsky's posted some nice images of their brand new space. Hit them up if you're interested in attending, though I will say they're been pretty full since day one, and there's already a bunch of great people waiting. Great to see.

Lastly, here's some sketches. The second one is the only piece which survived the destruction by angry ex of my friend Mike's entire art collection. Phew.

Woohoo it's big W

This was an image I did recently. I've come up with some ideas for costume changes though. I'll see what comes of that and post it when I get a chance.

Random robot doodle and Bisley

Well hey, it's a sweet robot!

I've been looking at Simon Bisley's bible illustrations lately, and have to say that guy is an incredible draftsman. Aside from the drawing itself though, he does a lot with texture that I don't even understand. He seems to use a chamois and maybe even do some texture rubbings, and he gets an amazing range of stuff. He may even be using pens and charcoal and acrylic washes in there, I'm not sure. But it's beautiful to see somebody stretching the idea of a black and white pencil drawing like that.

As an aside, I mentioned that I'd recently discovered the joys of drawing on tracing paper on facebook. After being accused of being a 'dirty tracer' by a number of people, somebody half jokingly mentioned carbon paper. Well, I'm gonna get me some, and I'll post whatever comes of it when I get a chance.

Welcome

Well hey there.

It seems like everybody's doing the blog thing these days, and I'm nothing if not a follower of fashion.

Having gone freelance, I also needed something to do other than play drinking games with Netflix shows all day long.

Big up
